My Entrepreneurship Dilemma

For the past several weeks, I have been facing what I call my entrepreneurial dilemma. This dilemma has caused me great consternation and there has been many occasions where I have felt lost.

The main issue that my mind has been wrestling with is in what direction do I want to focus my entrepreneurial endeavours.

I have so many great ideas and dreams that I would love to implement and pursue. But I’ve discovered that sometimes you can have too many aspirations and that in turn leads one to not properly focus on what should be done.

I have read and heard many business experts say that you should become great at one thing, become an expert at it. Do it well, do it right and you will succeed.

I strongly believe in the above philosophy, however a part of me believes that you can still pursue other entrepreneurial endeavours while focusing the majority of your time and efforts on your main business.

This strategy was further encouraged in me after reading a recent article by Martin Zwilling read article which discusses the aforementioned concept, referring to such Entrepreneur’s as “Parallel” or “Multi-Table” Entrepreneurs.

I knew that there existed many entrepreneurs who operated more than one business simultaneously, but I didn’t know that there was a category for such individuals. That in itself was rather intriguing.

To compound my situation even further, was my involvement in the network marketing or multi-level marketing (MLM) realm. Now some may question the authenticity of whether or not MLM is entrepreneurship in the true sense of the word. That discussion may well be left for another article.

Nevertheless, I have built my network marketing business over the last few years and during this time, I have attained a certain level of success. More importantly, I have learned a great deal of information about business, leadership, relationship building and personal development strategies.

That being said, there has been one fundamental area that has been lacking in my MLM ventures. What has it been?

I believe that the single most important trait to possess as an entrepreneur is passion. Without passion, all other aspects of starting and building your own business mean nothing bi came to realize that not only has my passion waned over the last several months, it has on fact disappeared.

This absence of passion is by no means a reflection of anything negative about the MLM industry or any company with which I became involved. Rather, it is solely as a result of new found passion and dedication to other traditional business models.

So it is with a heavy heart, but a new found vigor, that I bid farewell to my network marketing business and welcome

With this change in entrepreneurial direction, it was necessary for me to re think the concept of this blog. In the past, my blog was strictly in relation to providing MLM tips. That angle obviously cannot take centre stage.

Instead, I have elected to focus on traditional entrepreneurship in general, with specific emphasis on those individuals looking to take that entrepreneurial plunge.

Mind you, I am by no means a guru or expert in entrepreneurship. In fact, I would like us to take this entrepreneurial journey together, hence the title of my blog.

I hope that whatever information I impart on you, will aide in your quest for entrepreneurial success. I look forward to building a mutually rewarding business relationship with you.

Make Each Day Your Entrepreneurial Masterpiece

“If you start off each morning with the mindset of, “make each day your masterpiece,” what would you do differently?”

If entrepreneurs and small business owners apply the above mindset, do you think it could have a positive impact on the success of your business?

The answer to that question is a resounding, YES!

Let’s say you wake up tomorrow morning and decide that this IS the day!  You will make this day the best day ever in your entrepreneurial career.  Everything you do this day will be part of creating that daily masterpiece.

What would you do differently? What could you do differently?

  • Could you wake up a little earlier in the morning and either read or write down some positive affirmations instead of filling your mind with negative news and chaos?
  • Could you take some time to read or listen to something of a  personal development nature to broaden your knowledge?
  • Could you take out a sheet of paper and write down your 3 daily, weekly and monthly goals for building your business, and set out a game plan to reach those goals?
  • Could you actually pick up the phone and call only 5 potential customers, clients or prospects and discuss with them what is currently happening in your company?
  • Could you work on building your relationships with the people who are already part of your business or personal network?
  • Could you meet with 1 person and learn more about what he/she is doing and to build a better relationship with them?

You could certainly do all this.  But would you?

If you truly want to make each day your masterpiece, then you MUST perform the above activities, and then some, in order to become successful in your entrepreneurial endeavour.

Are you ready to create your masterpiece?

Let me know how it goes tomorrow and if this information has helped you in any way.  Feel free to share this post with others.

Wishing you great success!

3 Surefire Ways to Create Your Own Luck In Your Network Marketing Business

I was recently listening to a radio talk show and during the conversation, a caller made a comment that I’m certain  you have all heard before:

“You have to be good to be lucky and lucky to be good.”

I’ve heard that expression many times and in fact I’ve said it myself, because I believed it. Although I still believe in the first part of that expression, it’s the second part that got me to thinking.

When I heard that comment, it brought my mind back to an incident that occurred a few months previous.  I was watching a hockey game with my son.  During this game, the goaltender stood on his head and in addition, the opposing team hit the post 4 times.  What ran through my head at that time was the following:

“Boy that goalie really has horseshoes up his ass”

Even my son made a comment to the effect of, “Daddy, this guy is so lucky.” That comment got me thinking. download

Was he really lucky? Saying that he was lucky indicates that his actions did not determine the outcome at all.  The hitting of 4 posts by the other players had nothing to do with the goalie.

I don’t think luck had anything to do with it!

Couldn’t it be that the goalie positioned himself so effectively that the players had nowhere else to shoot except at the post?  Couldn’t it be that the goalie studied the tendencies of the opposing players so well, that he knew exactly where to stand?

You see, in my mind, we create our own luck.  Luck does not just happen to anyone.  I feel that we put ourselves in a position to become lucky by our own actions.

This topic brought me to thinking of entrepreneurship, starting your own business and the network marketing industry.  I have heard so many complaints from Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) representatives about how lucky certain people are in the industry.

“That guy is so lucky that he found such a quality prospect.” “That lady is lucky to have such a great sponsor.”

What a crock!

Those people who have become successful in their network marketing businesses created their own luck.  It was not a fluke that they found great people with whom to work.  This belief undermines their ability.  They positioned themselves to be attractive to leaders in the industry or to attract quality people.  They possessed the right mindset and knowledge as leaders and in turn found like-minded individuals to propel their MLM business.

You too can create your own luck!  Here are 3 surefire ways that can get luck on your side to grow your MLM business.

1. Maintain a Positive and Friendly Mindset

Take a look at the people around you.  Isn’t there always someone to whom people seem to gravitate?  That’s not a coincidence.  What character trait do they possess that makes them so attractive to others?  I guarantee you, it’s not the size of their wallet.

These people are all happy, positive-minded individuals.  They have charisma.  They are always smiling.  images (3)When you act in this fashion, people will come to you.  You will have no difficulty in finding prospects to join your network marketing team.

Jim Rohn once said, “To attract attractive people, you must be attractive.”

Think about it.  Who would you rather work with?  Someone who always seems to have a smile on their face and looks at the positive side of things, or someone who is miserable and always thinks the world is going to come crashing down at any moment.

2. Increase Your Knowledge

Yes, being a positive and happy person will certainly attract many people.  But, what happens after that?

It’s one thing to have people interested in you and what you do, but it’s quite another to have them become a part of your network marketing business. So, how do you do that?

It’s easy.  You study; you learn; you increase your knowledge. Once these prospects are flocking toward you, you need to know what to say to them.  You must have the ability to provide to them the key information that will cause them to join your team.

There is so much information available to us at the click of a button, that there should be no excuses about not being able to find out about a particular topic.  Get out there and images (4)read.  Read as many books as possible in order to improve your knowledge and mindset, so that when those prospects show up, you can conduct your presentation effectively and be able to answer any of their questions in an intelligent manner.

3. Be More Creative

Albert Einstein said, “The true sign of intelligence is not knowledge but imagination.”

I think creativity and imagination go hand in hand.  There have been so many discoveries and inventions simply because of the imagination and creativity of some astounding people.

Now, I’m not asking you to reinvent the wheel, but what I am saying is that you must, think outside the box!

If you really want to be a big-time player in the network marketing industry, then you have to come up with some creative ways to find prospects.

Sure there exists some great strategies and techniques from the experts, and make sure you use all of them.  But, to become a true leader and success, use your imagination and create your own.  I’m not going to give you an example in this area as that would defeat the purpose of you using your own imagination.

I truly believe in the saying, “You have to be good to be lucky.” So get out there and become good, become great at what you do and lady luck will definitely follow you.
